Mild High Club began as the recording project of classically trained jazz musician
Alexander Brettin. Upon relocating to Los Angeles from his hometown of Cary, IL,
Brettin signed with Stones Throw Records, who released the band’s debut LP,
Timeline, on their Circle Star imprint in 2015. The band spent the next year touring across North America and Europe, mixing in small club headline dates with various festivals as well as touring in support of artists such as Wire, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Youth Lagoon, the Allah-las, and Quilt.
2016 saw the release of Skiptracing, a concept album whose theme follows a private investigator attempting to trace the steps of the sound and the spirit of American music. In support of Skiptracing, the band toured throughout the fall and winter of 2016, through North America, Europe, South America, and Australia, continuing to hone their unique blend of ‘70’s AM radio influenced, jazz inflected psychedelic pop. A collaboration album with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard followed in 2017, entitled Sketches of Brunswick East.
